Character Oak Solid Desktops

These beautiful, hand made Character Oak, solid wood desktops are made to the highest specification in the UK, available from stock, for despatch within 2-3 days.  The most popular sizes are shown, however, we can produce almost any size required on a 4-week lead time, please email sales@friskadesk.com and request a quote.

This desktop is for the real wood purist, made of beautiful solid Oak, possessing huge character (smells gorgeous too!), and featuring natural knots and full depth of grain variation from multiple planks, each desktop is expertly sanded and finished with matt lacquer for a smooth refined touch.

This desktop is solid natural wood, 26mm thick (+/-), with natural hand finished edges and has specially inserted inset metal batons on the underside of the desktop to give structural strength to the natural planked wood.  This helps to ensure that these tops will not warp or split as other solid wood desktops without metal bracing will eventually do.

Please note:  These desktops are not supplied as pre-drilled with metal screw inserts as our standard desktops are when bought complete with a desk frame and our inlay control switches are not able to be used with any of the solid wood desktops due to the characteristics of the wood and the limitations of our CNC machinery.  As the tops are real wood there is also a certain amount of imperfections in the surface of the desk which could cause these inlay switches not to sit entirely flush.  Our "frame only" desks all come with a standard control switch which fixes to the underside of the desktop however, a memory version can be found here- Kubbe.

Desktop Care

As these are natural products care must be taken with them to ensure they are always looking their best and avoid premature breakdown.  Regularly cleaning the top is especially important to ensure that it remains looking its best for years and this is best done with a mildly soapy warm cloth and dried immediately afterwards with a dry cloth.  Under no circumstances should anti-bac or household cleaning products be used as this will attack the lacquer and result in a 'sticky' feel to the surface.

Please note that unlike our MFC desktops, these natural wood tops cannot withstand ink and pencil marks and will dent if objects are pushed into it or knock against it.  Any spills need to be cleaned immediately as allowing liquid to remain for any length of time will eventually stain and discolour the surface and possibly cause warping.

• No duty is payable for all Eurozone countries, however local carriers may add charges for customs clearance, etc., please check with your local TNT prior to ordering.

• Installation:
• Expert installation service available at extra charge, check drop down menu for cost.
• This is a weekday service normally carried out within 10 working days of order by our team of fully qualified professional installers. Service times will vary dependant on schedule volume, 10 working days is the norm, not a guarantee.
• Installation is for the desk and cable management tray only.  Any accessories purchased with your desk may be fitted as a goodwill gesture without charge.
• Our installers bring your order with them, assemble on-site and remove all packing and rubbish.
  
• Please ensure the install area is clear and ready for our team, and if utilising an existing desktop, that it has already been removed from the original desk and is on hand ready for install.
• We will advise a date and a morning or afternoon time slot within a few days of receiving your order.
• Please note: Installations are dynamic, dependant on the volume of calls within a given area and can be subject to change at short notice.  We may not be able to meet individual date requests however will always do our best to accommodate.  
• We cannot take any old existing furniture away for disposal.
• Installation service is available for mainland UK only.

• Please note that once an installation date is booked, we require at least 48 hours’ notice for any changes, otherwise you may still be charged for a missed appointment.
